Cool Science Stuff We Found This Week
Ever recommends this beautifully obsessive video by Craighill about everything wrong with ordinary scissors - and how they spent years designing a better pair from scratch. If you've ever had a pair that just won't cut right, this one will be very satisfying.
Cameron found this incredible browser-based collection of scientific models and simulations you can play with directly - no downloads needed. It includes everything from ant colonies to weather systems, and yes, there is a river meander simulator that is genuinely mesmerizing.
Jasper recommends this Nature article about CERN physicists successfully transporting antimatter for the very first time — in the back of a truck. Cameron notes: "Quite bold to do it in a truck with the word 'antimatter' on the side like that." Pairs perfectly with this MinutePhysics explainer on antimatter.
Sarah recommends this gloriously relaxing Kurzgesagt compilation covering all of human history in one hour.
Josh thoroughly enjoyed this video from Grant at 3Blue1Brown. It’s a fascinating combination of math and art that explores what happens when you take the logarithm of an image.
